Peg Perego Polaris RZR 900 12 Volt Review, Unboxing and Assembly
Thanks for stopping by! My youngest son just turned 3 and we decided to get him the Peg Perego Polaris RZR 900 12 Volt. Today we are doing the Peg Perego Polaris RZR 900 12 Volt Review, unboxing and assembly. I took a video of the stages of assembly as well as went through my thoughts as I was putting the Polaris RZR 900 together. Just to quickly summarize, this was well worth the price, and has been an amazing toy for my 3 year old to play with.

You can skip all the reading if you want and go straight to the video. Check out the real footage of me unboxing, assembling and my 3 year old son riding it at the end. I go through pretty much everything, and you can check it out below. I think in the written review, I touch on a few more specifics, so it might be a good idea to check out both!

First thing to note about the box is that it’s pretty big. You will want a truck to pick it up, if possible. A large SUV should be okay, we took our GMC Acadia, put all the seats down (has 3rd row) and it fit perfectly, no extra room. Or if you buy it online, you don’t have to worry about all that transporting nonsense!
This Peg Perego RZR 900 comes in 3 different colors. Click the links below to check each out. You can see user reviews, price information and have it shipped to your home!

Opening up the box, the fist thing I notice is that the majority of the Peg Perego Polaris RZR is already assembled, which as a parent, makes me very happy! The only thing in there was the actual unit mostly assembled, and a piece of shrink wrapped cardboard with all the extra stuff attached to it. All the books, decals and small parts were in this plastic wrapped piece. The way they packaged it is a little weird, but I had no problems getting it open!

Here is the part we all dread as a parent! The assembly… Honestly, there were a few parts that I asked my wife to come out and help me with, but overall it wasn’t too bad. The most time consuming and life draining part was definitely putting the decals on. We left a few off, just because we didn’t think they were completely necessary.
It does have several screws you will need to put in, I don’t think a power drill will be of much use here, a phillips screw driver will be more than enough. All screws are phillips head. They do not provide you a tool for this, you must have your own screw driver.
There were a couple tricky spots where you had to have a long screw go through a few moving pieces to get in the right hole. This is where I had my wife help me. Overall, there were only 2-3 of these parts, and the rest was very basic. Most of the actual assembly was the cosmetic stuff. Adding the spotlights, putting on the decals and some of the neat shots and fender pieces. We did have to install the steering wheel and the seats.
The steering wheel was the one part that we messed up on. The threads on the screw were messed up (I think I did this myself) so the nut would not go on. So we had to go grab a long screw we had in the garage to attach his steering wheel. It’s a temporary fix, but it worked for now, until we can get another one. I show you what I mean in the video, if you want to take a look at it.
I would say it took me about an hour to completely assemble from start to finish. It had a couple difficult parts, but overall you can definitely have one person assembling this.
Peg Perego Polaris RZR 900 12 Volt Review
We have had this for about a month now, and it’s still running like the first day we played with it. I’m going to talk about a couple things that I like, and a couple that I’m not too thrilled about.
It’s actually pretty well built. A couple of the pieces have fell off, but it’s just a couple cosmetic things, nothing necessary. The “speedometer” keeps falling off, but it’s really no big deal. Our yard is not very flat and has some holes (due to dogs digging) so it gets pretty bumpy out there.
One thing that was kind of annoying at first was the plastic wheels. Sometimes in the grass it’s hard to get traction, especially when on an incline. However, once my son figured out how to use reverse to get out of those situations, it really wasn’t a problem anymore. As soon as he starts spinning, he pops it in reverse and can get it moving. The plastic wheels can be a little slippery howe
ver, until your child learns how to utilize reverse.
Reverse was another learning opportunity for my son. In his other rid on truck, you just pushed the gear to reverse and went. On the Peg Perego Polaris RZR 900 he actually has to hold the gear in reverse while he’s going. If you let go, it springs back to the 1st gear. It was about a day before he learned the coordination to hold it forward and press the pedal at the same time. Now that he knows how to do it, it’s no problem. Again, you can see him using reverse in the video.
Overall, it’s considerably more powerful than our older 6V. The gear does come with a regulator so your child can only place it in 1st right off the bat. First gear keeps it at about 6 Volts and only goes 2.5 MPH. The second gear allows them to use all 12 Volts and go the full 5 MPH. We actually ended up taking this off within the first 20 minutes of him playing with it. It took him a few minutes to adjust to the speed and size, but he adapted quickly. He’s pretty big for his age of 3 however, if your child is a little on the smaller side, this setting could be incredibly useful for you!
As you can see in the photo, it’s big enough to hold my 3 year old and my 8 year old. It actually holds up to 130 pounds total. So even my 11 year old daughter can ride with my 3 year old, which he thought was pretty neat! It was frustrating with the smaller truck he used to have because my 8 year old wanted to play on it too. We were constantly yelling at him to get off of it. Now that they can both play on it, we do not have that problem anymore!
The seats are adjustable as well, they come with 2 different positions. So if your little person is bigger or smaller you have a couple of options. My son is on the bigger side, and he barely reaches the pedal on the setting that allows more leg space. We just left it because he is growing so fast, and he is used to it now.
Overall, we are extremely pleased with this ride on toy. There are a few minor gripes, but I think that’s gripes we would likely have with any of this sized riding toys. Our little boy is very hard on this thing, and it’s holding up well so far. If we have any troubles or difficulties, we will update this review!
Let us know if you have any questions in the comments. We would be happy to answer anything about it that you may need to know before making the purchase!
