Best Christmas Gift Ideas For 5-6 Year Old Boy and Girl 2020
1. Building Toys
One of the best gifts we can give our children are gifts that stimulate their minds and help them use their imagination. Building toys do just that. There are many options now when it comes to building toys. Lego’s and Kinex are still some of the best!
Lego Sets
Every time I get my children new Lego sets the imagination and ingenuity behind them baffle me. You can’t go wrong with a Lego set. I even discovered that you can order missing Lego’s straight from Lego factories if you need to. I ordered 15 individual pieces and it came to $4 something with shipping. Pretty neat! There are so many Lego sets from Star Wars to Super Heros to city building sets. Trying to name them all here would be crazy. Click the link below to see what amazing sets are available for Lego.

K’NEX
Okay, I know I said there is more out there than these guys too, but they still lead the field in the engineering type building sets. They are quite a bit different than Lego and can be a little more satisfying for my kids. They tend to make more interactive and “playable” models. Lego’s are often let sit and look at, Knex are more of a toy you can play with after you build it. My son built a race car out of his K’nex and he liked playing with it so much he never took it apart. Check out the kits available below. I suggest the 705 piece kit that builds 70 different models. It’s the most bang for your buck!
K’NEX 70 Model Building Set 705 Pieces.
Gears, Gears, Gears!
These are a lot of fun and are different from both Lego and K’NEX. This set uses Gears to make models. They have sets that range from very simple to a fun motorized set. For a gift idea for a 5-6 year old boy I would suggest the motorized kit. But they have plenty others available.

We actually bought my son one, and he left his poor bicycle in the dust. He loves riding it around the neighborhood with his friends. Check out some of the options for scooters below! This kit is really neat. It comes with everything you need to grow different types of crystals. It even comes with some neat display cases so your child my show off their creation. 6. Amazon Gift Cards
Okay, hear me out on this one. I know typically gift cards are kind of the cop out of gift ideas. But this can be different. My sister, (my kids aunt) bought them an Amazon gift card for Christmas a couple years ago. This may have the present they were most excited about at the end of they day. They knew that they were able to get on Amazon (with an adult) and pick out a toy that was in the price range that they had. Being able to sort the price range and age made it easy for them to see everything that was an option for them. They picked out their toys and received packages in the mail a few days after Christmas. It was almost like another holiday when their stuff came in the mail. It not only gave them the opportunity to pick out their own gift, but it spread the gifts out a bit so they received them after the initial shock of having so many new things to play with was over. Check out the options below for gift cards!
