Hello, my name is Brooks and my daughters name is Cailyn. We are the creators of WWW.COOLFACTSFORKIDS.COM.
Our Story…
I have made a few websites over the years, and started speaking with my 8 year old daughter. She seemed to take interest in creating a website. I told her to do a little brainstorming and come up with an idea, something she liked. Something she wouldn’t mind writing about from time to time.
The next morning, she said she really wanted to do a website all about fun facts for kids. I told her that was a great idea, and that we could really learn a lot together by researching these fact pages. So I bought the domain, coolfactsforkids.com and we wrote an article together. We started off with Spider Monkey Facts For Kids.
She loved the idea of learning about random topics that interested her, but also bringing that information to other kids. We were shocked when we started noticing that actual teachers were linking to our pages from their websites. We were being used as a resource to help class rooms learn about different topics. That first day I showed my daughter that a teacher linked us to their website, she had the biggest smile on her face. She loved that she was helping others!
I wasn’t expecting much to be honest, we wrote the Spider Monkey article, life became busy so we let it sit for a few weeks. Upon returning to the website, I noticed that we had a healthy dose of traffic to just that one page. We became pretty excited and decided to put our heads down and start learning and writing.
This website has been wonderful for my daughter and I. It’s been such a great bonding experience for us! She has learned so much about creating websites and about all the subject material we have researched. I think the most fun I have had researching was the article Octopus Facts For Kids. I had no idea how amazing octopus were! I’m not just saying that, I strongly encourage you to visit that page and see all the amazing things the Octopus are capable of.
We have put a lot of blood, sweat and heart into this website. It’s a bit clunky at times, but that’s because were not really professional web developers. Were just a father and daughter who wanted to work on a project together. We do have some ads on the website, most of the money goes to my daughters education fund and to pay for hosting costs.
